Vision of The Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy

It is a noteworthy fact that the Armenian communities in India, parallel to their commercial pursuits, were always keen to engage in further education for the advancement of their nation. The fact is evidenced by their efforts in establishing a school to train and educate their children in the language and faith of their forefathers, without which their national identity would not have been so faithfully preserved in the land of their adoption.

One such Armenian named Margar Johanness used his house to instruct the young Armenians until the first regular Armenian school was started in the year 1798 by Arratoon Kaloos who was a native of Tokat (now in Turkey). Our Vision is to educate our children not merely for living but for life. A life lived should be meaningful, positive and propelling towards the intended goal. Children under our guidance could aim for the so called impossible, build a strong willpower which would give them the strength to achieve- “To fight for the right without question or cause. To be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause."Academic excellence definitely is the backdrop in this pursuit of life, however, achievable according to the aptitude of the individual child, synchronized in a harmonious environment.

Swami Vivekananda rightly said “Education is not the amount of information that is put into your mind and runs riot there, undigested all through your life” – Education as we visualize has to play a catalytic role where it enables a learner to pursue and discover the men, matter and materials, there context, their relevance, their utility in their own way.

Education is a continuing process and learning is something which is endless. The world is witnessing rapid changes in all spheres of human activities. Therefore it has become incumbent on us (teachers) to equip ourselves adequately, to cope with challenges of globalization and technological revolution. Therefore a continuous process of quality enhancement becomes essentially important to sustain progress.

The institution has been ideal in itself with the professional expertise and experience in management of education essential to meet the growing and challenging needs of preparing the future citizens of tomorrow.

Here we believe that knowledge is Power as such we lay emphasis on the overall development of the child, both mental and physical development. Our objective is to provide quality education to nurture and develop the creative skills of the child. We seek to develop cognitive and positive traits in the child and imbibe in the child a high level of communication skills. Towards this end, we provide learning that is not just personalized but also highly interactive. This is enabled by using teaching based on one-to-one leaning by using computers and audio-visual equipments.

Our fundamental aim is to produce quality; to awaken and cultivate in our pupils an ever increasing desire to follow ‘higher things’ just because they are higher. But to follow higher things requires unremitting effort and ceaseless work on the part of both the schoolmaster and the scholar. The student of today is so

often found talking of his rights and his demands. That is not following higher things. If our own ambition is to follow better and higher things we shall put the demands of others first and our own last. When UNESCO asked Gandhiji just before his death for a message on human rights, he replied that there were no human rights until we had first fulfilled our duties.

The purpose of education, therefore, is to teach our students to see his duty to his fellowmen, to his country and to his God; to infuse him with the desire and the energy to fulfill his duty with all his powers; to be acutely conscious of the demands mankind is forever making on him; and to be less conscious of what he loves to regard as his own rights .These are the higher things.

The school believes in education of the whole person and, among other things, strives to help its students (i) to acquire logical thinking, (ii) to cultivate sensibilities, (iii) inculcate moral values, (iv) evolve a comprehensive worldview and (v) develop respect for all forms of life, expression and belief. It pays particular attention to equipping its students with skills and abilities to enable them to answer the challenges of the modern world, have a greater awareness of the world issues, and discover how similar all humans are. Also the India International School caters to the needs of non-Resident Indians, who appreciate the school's efforts to inculcate among students an international outlook while still retaining the finer aspects of cultural heritage and prefer to send their children to India International School to make sure that they grow into healthy human beings.
